Efficiency enhancement plant Reisseck II plus
VERBUND Hydro Power GmbH
2021 - 2023
Carinthia (A)
The Reisseck II plus efficiency enhancement plant is designed to increase the output of the existing power plant by more than 11% without building additional storage facilities.
The construction works for the plant Reisseck II plus facility include the following underground works:
- Access tunnel:
Length = 283 m, cross-section = 29 m², 0-15 % falling
- Bypass tunnel:
Length = 89 m, cross-section = 18 m², 0-39 % rising
- Power cavern:
L x W x H = 37.5 x 17.0 x 19.7 m
- Headrace gallery:
Length = 301 m, cross-section = 18 m², 39 % rising
- Tailrace gallery:
Length = 76 m, cross-section = 18 m², 0-15 % falling
- Drainage gallery:
Length = 140 m, cross-section = 10 m², 3 % falling
The headrace gallery continues from the inlet and outlet structure into the “Kleiner Mühldorfersee” via a pressure tunnel to the power cavern and further via the tailrace gallery to the existing pressure tunnel of the Reisseck II power plant. Both pressure tunnels are lined with ring concrete with a thickness of at least 25 cm. Depending on the requirements, an all-round seal is installed beforehand. The inner diameter of the concrete lining is 4 m. The power station consists of a cavern in which all the necessary mechanical and electrical equipment are housed. The entire project is located in a high alpine location at around 2.200 meters above sea level.
